Teacher Assistant:

Job Summary/Objective: A Teacher Assistant as an individual who, under the supervision of a certified special education teacher, assists in such duties as working with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects; providing teachers with information about students; assisting students in the use of instructional resources; assisting teachers in the development of instructional materials; and assisting in instructional programs, and attending to non-teaching duties as managing records, materials, and equipment, attending to the physical needs of students and supervising students.

We have Full-Time, Benefit Eligible positions and, Part-Time hourly Non-Benefit Eligible positions available.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  2. Experience working with special need individuals is preferred.
  3. If not certified as a Teacher Assistant, must work toward obtaining a Teacher Assistant Level I Certification within the first six (6) months of employment.

Physical Demands:  This role is physically demanding. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand; run, walk; sit; bend, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; The employee must be able to lift an average pre-school age child (35 pounds) and school age child (50 pounds).

Behavior Support Teacher Assistant:

Job Summary/Objective:

The Behavior Support Teacher Assistant is responsible for working collaboratively with the student’s educational team to support the team during a behavior crisis.

  1. Provides crisis intervention support and models NCI interventions in addressing challenging behaviors. 
  2. Works under the direction of the Lead NCI Facilitator to provide NCI instruction, once certified
  3. Reviews and becomes familiar with the individualized Education Program (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for all children who have been identified as having a current BIP and/or are at a high-risk for behavior issues.
  4. Collects, monitors, reviews, and tracks the data for BIR’s (Behavior Incident Reports) and SIFs (Student Incident Forms).
  5. Provide coverage as a Teacher Assistant/Aide as requested and assigned, in classrooms and during arrival/dismissals.

This is a Full-Time, Benefit Eligible Role. 

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. TA Certification or RBT Certification
  3. Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working with young children with disabilities with behavior issues

Social Worker:

Job Summary/Objective:  The Social Worker helps individuals, families and groups deal with and change behaviors, emotions, attitudes, relationships, and social conditions to restore and enhance their capacity to meet personal and social needs. A social worker is assigned to each family to help them understand their child’s disability and the effect on the family system.  Social workers do work individually with parents, as a couple or in a group setting. 

We have a Full-Time, Benefit Eligible position available.

Our school operates 12 months/year.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Master’s Degree in Social Work
  2. Current NYSED registration as a  LMSW or LCSW

Special Education Teacher:

Job Summary/Objective: A Special Education Teacher is responsible to develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the needs of each child in the class according to his/her/their Individualized Education Program (IEP) in all areas of development while implementing curriculum that is compatible with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and the New York State Early Learning Guidelines. In addition, the teacher is responsible for ongoing evaluation and assessment of the student’s progress toward instructional objectives and coordination of the delivery of special education services as per the IEP.

We are currently accepting applications for Special Education Teachers to support:

  • Self-contained ABA classes
  • Self-contained non-ABA classes
  • Special Class in an Integrated Setting (this role requires both Early childhood general education certification and special education experience b-2)

Required Education and Experience:

We require a master’s degree, NYS Professional Certification in Special Education/students with disabilities from birth to 2nd grade or equivalent and prefer 1-3 years teaching experience. ABA experience required for ABA classrooms.

** We will also consider a candidate with a bachelor’s degree who is in process of obtaining their master’s degree.

Our school operates 12 months/year, Special Education Teachers work a total of 212 days/year.

Typical hours are either 7:30am-3:00pm or, 8:00am-3:30pm Monday – Friday.

Physical Demands:  This role is physically demanding.  The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand; run, walk; sit; bend, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; The employee must be able to lift an average pre-school age child (35 pounds) and school age child (50 pounds).

Direct Support Professional (DSP):

Job Summary/Objective:  Direct Support Professional’s (DSP’s) needed to work directly with children who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Work with individual children or small groups of children on a variety of activities, including, but not limited to games, music, arts and crafts, computers, and sports.
  2. Actively participate in and encourage participation from all children, regardless of child’s ability.
  3. Always ensure children’s safety.
  4. Assist the group leader with room prep, clean-up and diapering as requested.
  5. Must be able to take direction from group leaders/supervisors in addition to being able to take initiative.

Required Education and Experience:

Physical Demands:  This role is physically demanding. The employee is required to be non-sedentary. Must be able to stand; run, walk; sit; bend, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; The employee must be able to lift an average pre-school age child (35 pounds) and school age child (50 pounds).

This is a part-time, position. Hours are 9:00am – 4:00pm.  Typically, the program meets for 18 Sundays between September and June. 

Compliance Director:

Job Summary/Objective: The Compliance Director  will be responsible for the management, oversight, and execution of VCLC’s Compliance Management Program. The Compliance Director will play a critical role by ensuring VCLC’s initiatives, activities, policies, and processes comply with applicable laws and regulations of its oversight agencies. The Compliance Director will identify, evaluate, and manage compliance requirements, oversee compliance activities managed by others, and support the various disciplines within VCLC.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree
  2. 3-5 years of experience in risk, compliance, audit, or legal
  3. Must have experience with OCFS
  4. Experience with SED and OPWDD a plus
