Our Evaluation Center provides multi-disciplinary evaluations for Early Intervention (EI), Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE), and Committee on Special Education (CSE).
VCLC provides multi-disciplinary evaluations (including bilingual evaluations) for young children birth to 8 years old who have suspected disabilities and/or are at risk for developmental delays to determine if the child qualifies for services. There is no out-of-pocket cost for the evaluations.
If parents feel their child needs an evaluation, they must contact their local Department of Health (EI) for children under the age of 3 and their school district for children from 3-8 years old.
Early Intervention (EI) and the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) services are for children who have or are suspected of having a developmental delay or disability and are eligible based on New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) or New York State Education Department (NYSED) guidelines. Nassau County Department of Health/ Suffolk County Department of Health (NCDOH/SCDOH) for EI and local school districts for CPSE must refer children for evaluations. The type of services, frequency, duration, location, and the provider is determined by the municipality for EI and the school district for CPSE. Families have no out-of-pocket expenses but are responsible for fees/costs associated with child care. All therapists and teachers are licensed and/or certified according to NYSDOH and NYSED regulations.
